"We are brave, your highness." Part 2

"We are brave, your highness." Part 2

Okay, I'm so excited to have this finished! I love this cardigan. I have the pattern and fabric details in my first post, so be sure to read that too.

I did make a few changes to the original pattern. Firstly, I changed up how the sleeve was drafted, as I needed to preserve the border print going all the way around, instead of being curved. I also made my finished cuffs at 5" long to give the look of the red inner sleeves on Padme's flame handmaiden outfit.

I also constructed it a bit differently in that I didn't serge on the facing band, as I didn't want to see the ugly serger stitches right in the front when the cardigan opens. I stitched it on, folded it down the length, and folded it under at the very edge. I then stitched in the ditch on the front of the cardigan, catching the folded under section, on the backside.

I did line the hood in a lightweight knit, again, to mimic that red under hood on the costume, and give a nicer finish. I also didn't do the side slits on the bottom, but rather graded the hip area out a little bit for more room, and sewed it as usual. The hem was changed to be doubled over with a finished 1" hem. This was for a cleaner finish.
